2014 - This is the Year We Inspire Futures

Jeremiah 29:11

New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

2013 is winding down and 2014 is fast approaching. As we wrap up another year of amazing times on the mountain, we pause to reflect on the work God has done through our experiences at Camp. In 2013 our theme for Camp Greenville was "Defy Gravity" with the Scripture Isaiah 40:31.

More and more the feedback we get from camp participants and camper parents reminds us of the impact that Camp has on a person. In 2014 the Camp staff want to be more intentional about the role we play in the lives of others. We know that God is working out His plan in each of our lives and we are privileged to be a part of that at Camp Greenville.

We look forward to another year of memories that will last a lifetime.

Happy Mother's Day!

"Who can find a virtuous woman?  She is far more precious than jewels...Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come.  She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue.  She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle.  Her sons rise up and call her blessed.  Her husband also praises her:  Many women are capable, but you surpass them all!  Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised."......Proverbs 31:10, 25-30

Have Mercy On Me

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities:  the punishment that brought us peace was on him.".........Isaiah 53:5

At this time of the year I spend time reflecting on the past year.  There are a lot of happy memories with family, friends, co-workers and even strangers. However, some sore spots do stand out.  Some of those things I have to take blame for and some of the things were beyond my control.  The purpose of my reflecting at this time of the year is in remembrance of the life my Savior lived and the death that he chose for me so that I can live with peace and joy and freedom.  I lay all of the hurt that I have inflicted on others and all of the hurt that was inflicted on me by others at the foot of the cross.

A great place that brings this exercise home is spending time at Pretty Place.  The chapel is open to the public during daylight hours seven days a week unless there are events scheduled.  Join us for our traditional Sunrise Service, March 31st this year.  You might want to make a weekend of it by being here for Family Camp.  Call us for details.

Trust Me

In the darkest pit of despair, when God gives us the light to take only one step at a time, His message to us is still simply:  TRUST ME..................Barbara Johnson

May you be blessed this day.  Especially, if you are going through hard times.....Take a trip to Pretty Place.  It may not take away the problems, but it will make them disappear for a while.

Stress Remedy

"Take time out from the hustle and bustle to be alone with God --- your hope, your strength, and your promise of a brighter tomorrow.".............the late Barbara Johnson

She also wrote:

"The blessings that come from reaching out to others cannot be overestimated."

Ms. Johnson's life was a life filled with more sorrow than most people could handle.  She turned it around and helped people through laughter.  The next time you are in a Christian bookstore, ask to see if they have any of her books.  They will brighten up your day with laughter to tears.
